With 21 years of performance experience in a wide variety of styles, guitarist Raymond Alan brings an eclectic flare of elegance to all of the events he plays. His playing is fluid, expressive, and full of life. Raymond Alan understands the logistics of each gig he plays and knows how to be prepared both musically, technically, and professionally.

Biography

Raymond Alan (who goes by “Alan Rigoletto” outside of the classical guitar realm) is a professional guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, and music teacher based in Los Angeles, California.

A long time resident of New Jersey, he began his classical guitar studies at with James Day at The College of New Jersey in 2006. Before this, he had been studying jazz improvisation and solo guitar arranging with international fingerstyle guitar champion Mark Sganga in North Jersey. Raymond Alan also spent a semester abroad studying classical guitar with Michael Teuchert at the Conservatory for Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt Germany.

Following his graduation from The College of New Jersey in 2010, Raymond Alan explored all of the angles of being a professional guitarist he could. He played classical guitar at restaurants and weddings in New York City and Philadelphia, performed psychedelic rock in clubs all over Europe, and played guitar in bands of all styles including Jazz Manouche, Modern Jazz, Bluegrass, Irish Rock, Americana, Pop, Fusion, and Metal. He also honed in on his vocal improvisation by studying Hindustani Classical Vocals with Sri Pranab Kumar Biswas.

The entire time Raymond Alan was building his career as a performing musician, he was spending many hours a week teaching the guitar. His years of experience with teaching have given him the ability to teach other instruments such as voice, piano, ukulele, and mandolin.

Raymond Alan began writing songs in 2014 and began to devote most of his time to songwriting during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. His passion for songwriting led to his relocation from New Jersey to Los Angeles, where he currently operates as a professional musician.
